How to confidently brand yourself

How to confidently brand yourself

The other day I was asked to speak at an event all about confidence and my topic was, how can we confidently brand ourselves. In this blog post I wrote down some parts of my speech – as an inspiration and to learn about confidence and personal branding.

We can all be confident! We have all been born confident! When I look at my youngest daughter I see this confidence in her, she owns the world. And we have all had it. There just came a time, earlier or later when this was taken away from us – more or less. But we all have it in us to learn to be confident again!

What is personal branding?

What is personal branding?

When we think about a brand we mostly think about a logo and a website may be. We are thinking of big companies who are well established and well known brands. However EVERY business, whatever its size is a brand and should be branded well.
Read here what branding is and why it is so important.

In addition the word personal branding is also used more and more these days and often people don't really understand what that actually means and that personal branding is not constrained to celebrities.

In this blog post I want to write about what personal branding is, why it is so important and how you can implement it for yourself immediately.

How to differentiate your brand

How to differentiate your brand

There are many ways to be different from other brands. Of course there is always your

product or service that is different, your story behind it is different, your brand and your logo will look different, your images will be different.

However how do you really differentiate your brand from all the others out there? Now with the world having become so small and brands being accessable basically from everywhere it might seem so difficult to stand out from the crowd. There are so many brands on social media and the internet and it might seem overwhelming. It seems like there is always someone else who is doing what you are doing and who is similar. However I am telling you there is room for you and you are different. Not only because of yourself as a person and your unique story (link) but I think there is one huge way to differentiate your brand from everybody else. And that is being CONSISTENT!

The Importance of Branding

The Importance of Branding

A little while ago I was contacted by a fashion marketing student from London who was doing a project on fashion branding. I think she found me through Instagram and send me a message asking if I could answer a few questions for her project. As there was a day when I took a lot of fashion design weekend classes and almost started a degree as a fashion designer besides my day job I found it super interesting to read through the questions and I was very happy to help.

The questionnaire was basically about the importance of branding in the fashion industry and some other things like who my favorite client was so far ;-)). As the answers are actually not only relevant for fashion branding but for general branding as well - and they give a little introduction of how I work and who I am - I thought I would share the questions and answers on the blog today.

I would also love to hear your opinions on the answers. Is there anything you can add?

Personal branding - Is your business about you?

Personal branding - Is your business about you?

Is your business about you?

Well, the first answer that should come right into your mind is: no! It is about my customers! And serving my ideal customer or client. And yes you are totally right, of course your business is about your customer. And I keep saying that when I work with my clients for branding and web design. You want to attract your ideal customer with your brand and your website. But let me tell you a quick story:

During our summer holiday we always go to the same island and there we have friends who always took us to the same restaurant, we used to go there sometimes several times during our stay, until this year! Something has changed... and it was not the food. The food, the ambience, the location, the prices, it was all still the same and to be honest it was or is not better or worse than other places that are close by. BUT the head waitress has changed locations! And she was great - she was super friendly, knew everybody by name, she was super funny and always went the extra mile, even during stressful times. Every guest felt welcomed and had a good time, mainly because of her. She was the sole of this restaurant and why so many people returned over and over again. So this restaurant has lost it's sole and with her probably a lot of loyal customers.

SO GOING BACK TO MY INITIAL QUESTION. IS YOUR BUSINESS ABOUT YOU?
